1.6 Recommendations for policies and further inquiries
This policy emphasizes the necessity for a comprehensive strategy to steer Argentina’s bioeconomy. Currently, various sectors within the bioeconomy operate as separate clusters, missing out on potential synergies. Aligning these initiatives under a unified vision calls for effective political mechanisms.Argentina possesses the scientific expertise for a bioeconomy transition, yet bridging the gap between scientific expertise and business is crucial for generating tangible value. Overcoming challenges related to scale and funding remains pivotal, necessitating avenues to enhance dialogue between the scientific community and the entrepreneurial ecosystem (Sili, & Dürr, 2022). Viewing the bioeconomy as a development model that integrates diverse regions and ecosystems calls for an incentivization matrix to support this integration effectively. Recognizing the significance of ecosystem services and leveraging the nation’s biodiversity requires a delicate balance. Harmonizing innovation and technical advancements with the intrinsic characteristics of diverse ecosystems is essential. Establishing a clear agreement on what constitutes sustainability in the bioeconomy and devising operational indicators for monitoring and measuring this sustainability is imperative. Moreover, there’s merit in reconsidering the definition of Argentina’s bioeconomy to expand its scope. This expanded definition could involve more stakeholders impacting regional development and introduce additional sustainability considerations, potentially leading to a more sustainable approach to biomass transformation (Sili, & Dürr, 2022).
