10.4 Government Policy to enhance Israel’s Bioeconomy
Israel Innovation Authority will fund the establishment of a bio-devices R&D centre with €27 million. The Israel Innovation Authority is launching a significant NIS 113 million tender to establish an advanced research and development center focused on bio-devices, with an emphasis on bio-chip technology. This initiative aims to support companies dedicated to enhancing bio-devices in various applications, including environmental sensors, diagnostic implants, lab-on-chip technologies, and organ-on-chip systems. Bio-convergence, which integrates life sciences with engineering and software, holds great promise across sectors like medicine, environmental sciences, and agriculture. Israel, as a global tech and innovation leader, seeks to maintain its competitive edge and foster growth in the bio-convergence sector. The center’s objectives include providing R&D services, facilitating prototype production, enhancing international competitiveness, and developing a skilled workforce. This initiative positions Israel as a leader in bio-convergence innovation, bridging the gap between biology, engineering, and software technologies. Companies and organizations are encouraged to participate in this transformative industry by seeking funding from the Israel Innovation Authority.
