13.3 Sectors in Nepal that make up Nepal’s Bioeconomy
Agricultural, Forestry sector
The majority of jobs in Nepal are still in agriculture, which generates 31.7% of GDP that employs about 65% workforce. Merely 20% of the entire land area is suitable for cultivation; the remaining 40.7% is covered in forests, pastureland, and shrubs; the majority of the remaining area is mountainous.
Food and Beverages sector
GDP share – Approximately NPR 200 billion, representing 10% of Nepal’s GDP. The food and beverages sector plays a critical role in value addition to agricultural products.
