19.4 Vision and Development Objectives of Sri Lanka’s Bioeconomy
Sri Lanka Vision 2025 is all about making the country a smarter, more competitive place to live and work. They want to turn it into a hotspot for trade in the Indian Ocean. Their goals include making each person earn around $5,000 a year, creating a million new jobs, attracting more foreign investment (about $5 billion each year), and doubling how much the country sells overseas to $20 billion a year. To get there, they have figured out what is holding them back and made plans to fix those problems. Then there is the Sustainable Sri Lanka 2030 Vision. This one’s about making sure the country grows economically while also taking care of people and the environment. They want to follow a path called Balanced Inclusive Green Growth (BIGG), aiming to reach these goals by 2030: a strong economy, fairness for everyone, a healthy environment, and a peaceful, fair society. Their big picture is to make Sri Lanka a successful, well-off place in the Indian Ocean by 2030.
